Key Eligibility Questions for New Zealand

Partner / Spouse Visa (Partnership Visa)
The New Zealand Partner, Fiancé, and Marriage Visa, commonly known as the Partnership Visa, allows applicants to join their partner in New Zealand. This visa applies to both opposite-sex and same-sex relationships.
A partner must be:
- Legally married, or
- In a genuine and stable cohabiting relationship for at least 12 months
Applicants must demonstrate that they live together in an honest and committed relationship.
Minimum Requirements for Partnership Recognition
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old (or have consent if aged 16–17)
- Have met each other in person before applying
- Not close relatives
Additional Information
Applicants who have lived together for less than 12 months may still apply if they can prove a genuine and stable relationship. All applicants must also meet basic health and character requirements.
